tools for visualizing information

There are some useful, free online tools available for visualizing information, creating concept maps, and developing presentations. Here are three of my favorites:

Prezi

Prezi is a presentation tool, with engaging visual presentation features. It works equally well for non-linear information organization. Great for brainstorming, collaborative thinking, project design, image/text mixing, timelines, and more.  Set up account, spend 20 minutes with the tutorials, and you’ll be ready to use.

XMind

Easy-to-use software (free download) for creating concept/mind maps. View map as an outline, or convert an outline to a map. Share maps online through XMind site.

Wordle

Create word collages with the look of tag clouds. Copy in text, and the image will auto-generate. Words that appear in the text most frequently will be largest, words that appear infrequently will be smallest. Select fonts and color palettes to customize.
